Abstract: The article highlights U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)'s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Strategic Planning process on September 10, 2013 designed to provide guidance directly to DOT and influence future trucking industry research and technology initiatives. The planning process aims to identify the focus and themes for the next installment of the ITS Strategic Research Plan and invite stakeholders to join the discussion to enable continuity of DOT's current research programs.
