Abstract

The article covers industry issues in the U.S. and overseas as of June 1927. The Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) rejected a merger plan by railroad executive L. F. Loree. A lower level of employment was recorded between January and April 1927 compared with the same period in any year since 1922. The purchase of high volume of gold bars by Bank of France from the Bank of England and the U.S. Federal Reserve renewed attention to its resources.
