China and India: Exploring the Challenges for the Imminent Leadership.

By now, it is very well understood and agreed by majority scholars of the world that the 21st Century Belongs to Asia. It is hailed as the Asian century in a way that this century marks the 'revival' and not the 'rise' of the original world superpowers. With the economies of US and Europe dwindling in pace, and the emerging economies like China and India increasing their momentum to take lead in future, the international attention has inevitably been focused on the critical understanding of these Asian Giants and the entailments it will have on future course of international relations. Currently, both the countries have embarked on a very similar state of affairs. China elected its new President in March 2013 and India is electing its Prime Minister and the new government in 2014. This paper tries to analyse why a significant leadership transition is the need of the hour for both the countries. It puts forward the important challenges that both the new governments will have to address tactically, in order to maintain the status quo of both countries as the future superpowers.
