Abstract

The article focuses on the concept of vacuum energy and inflation in physics. It discusses four papers which were presented at a Gordon Conference on "Astronomy's Discoveries and Physics Education" in the year 2012, and deal with the behavior of space and basic cosmology. It states that the papers considered the mathematical model of an expanding universe and reexpressed Newton's law of gravity, the conservation of energy and the first law of thermodynamics in terms of scale factor.
