- The article profiles Benjamin Lawsky, superintendent of the New York Department of Financial Services (DFS), and highlights his activism in bank regulation which has caused tension among regulatory agencies. The article notes Lawsky sent out subpoenas in August 2013 to technology companies requesting information about virtual currencies such as Bitcoin. It also notes Lawsky, a former basketball player, thinks of himself as a referee in financial companies' competitive games.
