Abstract

Wireless Regional Area Network is a standard named IEEE 802.22 Working Group purposed in Nov 2004. The task was to develop an air interface (i.e., PHY and MAC) based on CRs for unlicensed operation in the TV broadcast bands. For this the cognitive radio techniques are of primary importance in order to sense and measure the spectrum and detect the presence/absence of incumbent signals. There are various sensing methods to avoid the inference with the licensed users. In this paper various sensing techniques are considered and by comparing we find out which one is best suitable in WRANs [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
