Abstract
- The article discusses examples of 18th-century silver tableware by American silversmiths such as Paul Revere. It mentions pieces offered by the auction house Christie's in 2011 including tablespoons with Revere's mark as well as a silver tankard with the mark of William Simpkins. Historical aspects of Colonial silver are addressed, such as their first crafting in New England from 1650 to 1775 and the attributes of Boston silver. Tips for collectors on buying Colonial silver are also presented.
