Abstract
- The article compares two forced migrations of nomadic Indians in Canada in the 1950s, analyzing the strategies, choices and decisions of the federal administration as opposed to the experience and way of life of these tribes who were mostly hunters, and suffered in many ways because of these relocations. The cases of the Sayisi Dene Indians and of the Ihalmiut Indians are examined. The resilience of these tribes is emphasized, as their descendants are still waiting for official apologies from the Canadian government.
