Abstract

The author focuses on the Iraqi-American writer and Brandeis professor Kanan Makiya's views on the Iraq War. He says that Makiya is considered to be the most excellent Iraqi dissident in the U.S. He claims that Makiya always assure his U.S. readers that Iraqis will welcome U.S. troops and that they will have no opposition about their presence in Iraq. He argues that although Makiya opposes Saddam Hussein's regime, he has become a Bush regime intellectual. He suggests that the dissident label on Makiya should be removed.
