Abstract
- The article focuses on the growing interest rates in the U.S. and its impact on insurance companies and federal housing. It is mentioned that some savings and loans are paying rates as high as 5 and 1/4 percent. U.S. Congress lifted price ceilings in May 1968 that allowed homebuyers to pay higher interest rates. It is said that Congress prevents the government to pay more than 4 and 1/4 percent interest for any obligation maturing in over seven years.
