Abstract
- The article discusses same-sex intestacy rights in the U.S. in relation to the exclusion of domestic partnership language in the 2008 amendments to the Uniform Probate Code. The American gay rights movement and the nation's Defense of Marriage Act are addressed, along with an analysis of the history of uniform law system. Hawaii's Reciprocal Beneficiaries System is examined. The author argues that the lack of universal inheritance rights for gay and lesbian couples is a concern for lawmakers.
