Interaction of Shear Wall-Frame Systems in Multistory Buildings.

The problem of shear wall-frame interaction is investigated by a method which emphasizes the physical interrelationships between the components and minimizes the mathematical complexity. The problem is reduced to that of a cantilever beam supported by concentrated elastic reactions. Expressions are derived to set up a simultaneous equation solution for deflections a} each story. The simplifications and assumptions in the analysis are discussed and procedures for extending the scope of the solution to more complex problems are given.
