The article reports on the U.S. as an alternative site for the construction of chemical manufacturer Huntsman's proposed 240,000 tonne per year methyl di-p-phe-nylene isocyanate (MDI) plant which was initially planned for Caojing, China. Chief executive officer (CEO) Peter Huntsman says that the reason for considering alternative sites is the delays in environmental permitting process. It also adds that the U.S. site in Geismar, Louisiana has been attractive because of the advent of shale gas.
