Abstract

The article explores the prevalence of gender inequality in the field of hepatology. According to the authors, women are underrepresented in the field despite the fact that more women are affected by autoimmune liver disease and cholestatic forms of liver disease compared to men. They recognize the contributions of female hepatologists to basic and clinical research. A gathering of a group of women clinicians and scientists from different countries in order to share knowledge is also mentioned.
