Abstract

The quality assurance in higher education institutions (HEIs) can be understood as policies, procedures and practices that are designed to achieve, maintain or enhance quality in a specific national, social and institutional context. An official platform for HEI quality assurance is the document Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). The paper presents shortly a conception of the international LLP project IBAR - Identifying Barriers in Promoting the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance at Institutional Level and Making Recommendation as to How These Might Be Addressed and in more details it deals with research of relations between quality and management/governance carried out in frame of the IBAR project in the Slovak Republic.
