Abstract

The article discusses OhioSpeaks, a sociolinguistics research program at Ohio State University (OSU) that requires students to investigate college's impact on student speech. The author explains the two modules that make up the program. The first module requires students to create and collect recorded word lists and research background information on other students through demographic surveys. The second module requires students to form an understanding of college student identity at OSU based on the demographic survey. Also discussed are student evaluations of the program.
