Abstract

A novel dual output inverter with ability to control two two-phase induction motors (TPIM) independently is proposed. Reducing overall cost of induction motor drive is a growing trend recently. On the other hand, lowering the number of switches is one of the popular methods to reduce overall system cost. In order to drive two two-phase induction motors, the proposed topology has cost advantageous because of less number of switches compared to traditional topologies. Two modes of operation are described for the proposed topology: constant frequency and variable frequency; which variable frequency mode is employed traditionally for variable speed drives. CBPWM scheme is developed for the proposed inverter. Simulation results are presented which verifies the performance of the dual output TPIM driver. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
