Abstract

The article discusses the card sorting method of usability research in libraries, and examines the relative merits of digital and analog card sorting. The benefits of digital card sorting including the ability of distance learners to participate, the likeliness that participants are in a comfortable environment, and the ease of data collection and analysis are commented on, and the online digital card sorting services OptimalSort.com and WebSort.net are examined. The conclusion that online card sorting is the better choice for many libraries is also presented.
