Abstract
- The article discusses the history of Birmingham, Alabama during the U.S. civil rights movement in the spring of 1963. Topics include the enforcement of segregation laws by the police commissioner Eugene "Bull" Connor, the 'Letter from Birmingham Jail" epistle of the activist Martin Luther King Jr., the arrest of activists from the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights organization, and the use of hoses and a canine unit in disrupting child protesters.
