Abstract

The article discusses the issue of communicable epidemic diseases and the history of public health, with a focus on historical disease control methods referenced in religious texts including the Bible and the Talmud. Topics include the discovery of bacteriology and disease prevention during the 20th century, Jewish historical texts which detail early public health measures for the treatment of a pestilence, and a comparison to modern diseases based on the symptoms described in Jewish religious texts.
