Determination of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in the edible offal of Egyptian buffalo.

Abstract

The article focuses on a study conducted on edible offal's of buffaloes to determine the level of organochlorine pesticides (OCP). A total of 135 random samples were collected from Ismalia, Zagazig and Mansura region of Egypt with 15 samples each of liver, kidney and tongue between October 2010 and June 2011. The samples were then screened for presence of OCP. Tongues had the highest concentration of OCP. The level of OCP residues were within the Egyptian maximum permissible limits.
