Abstract
- The article explores the late Cambrian ophiolites found in the southern periphery of the Kokchetav Massif in Northern Kazakhstan. It discusses the structural position, composition and geochronology of early Paleozoic ophiolites which have been widespread in the central and eastern parts of the country. It notes that ophiolites are associated with island-arc and flysch complexes which confined to narrow zones with an intricate fold-thrust structure. It indicates the determination of the ages of crustal parts of ophiolitic sections in many areas including in the Boshchekul zone, Dzhalair-Naiman zone and Maikain-Kyzyltas. It mentions that the western part of Kazakhstan paleozoides are occupied by sialic massifs that are represented by terrigenous and siliceous.
