Abstract

The article compares the effectiveness of the anesthetic regimens propofol, propofol with remifentanil, and sevoflurane along, with regard to seizure duration and quality in patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy. It was found that the mean motor and electroencephalogram seizure durations were longer in patients who received propofol alone and those who received propofol with remifentanil. Indications that the three regimens had similar effects on seizure quality parameters are cited.
