Abstract
- In this paper, an AVS variable length code decoder (VLD) architecture based on software/hardware partitioning is proposed. Fixed Length Code, unsigned or signed Exp-Golomb Code and context-based adaptive 2D-VLC (CA-2D-VLC) Code can be correctly decoded. As a result of reasonable design and optimization for nineteen 2D-VLC tables, a new code table design method is proposed and a reduction of more than 30% in hardware cycle number consumption is achieved. In order to ensure the rationality and correctness of the whole system, a verifier based on RM52J is presented as well. Tested by ninety-two streams, this design is proved to reach the requirement of AVS video decoding. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
