Abstract

This paper presents techno-economic viability analysis for 5 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at Gujarat (India). The per unit electricity purchase cost by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) is 15'/kWh for first 12 years from the date of commercial production and 5'/kWh from 13th to 25th years of operation. The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and equity payback are found to be around 16.6 % and 7.8 years respectively without considering any clean energy facilities. The total annual green house gas (GHG) reduction is estimated to be 10504 tons. HOMER and RETScreen computer tools are used for the analysis. Monthly average solar radiation data from India Metrological Department and NASA SSE is used for this study. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
