Abstract

This paper presents a bio-inspired self-organizing approach for multicellular embryonic architecture, this approach is based on the lateral activation model from biological embryonic development theory. The lateral activation model clearly depicts intracellular chemical reaction and intercellular chemical exchange, and can provide the positional information for each cell, which is precisely the key source of the self-organizing capacity of real organism. This approach is different from the existing self-organizing approaches in other multicellular embryonic architectures. The cutting and dissociating experiments show that our multicellular embryonic architecture possesses powerful self-organizing capacities, including the dissociated-and-reaggregated capacity as hydrae.
