Abstract

This paper deals with a new design of cell separation system. The presented system consists of focusing channel, cell separation device, micro pump, fluid flow sensor, sample storage unit, electronic circuit, central processing unit (CPU), micro controller, cell storage unit and drain collection unit. Finite element software has been used for numerical simulation of descending curves micro channel. The diameters of micro channel curves are 50 µm, 45 µm, 40 µm, 35 µm, 30 µm. Solid particles have been modeled in the channel to analyze the inertial effects during fluid-solid interaction. The diameter of each solid particle is 5 µm. The channel width is 15 µm. The driving pressure of 50 to 300 kPa has been applied on the inlet of micro channel to push the fluid through channel. The inertial forces on the particles inside the channel have been investigated. Presented system and micro channel design can be used for bacterial detection in the blood. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
