Abstract

Assessments are an integral part of teaching and learning. Since manual assessments are very time-consuming for teaching personnel, e-assessment systems have been created to support them. Today's systems do not support exercises that require higher-order cognitive skills, though. Such exercises are prevalent in the Information Systems (IS) and Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE) education. EASy is a system that provides e-assessments with a focus on computer science and mathematics exercises in courses taught in IS and BISE degree programs. While it provides a number of advanced modules, it has not been evaluated in a general manner, yet. Moreover, no empirical studies of e-assessment of complex exercises exist. We present a survey of the perception of e-assessment by students. Besides quantitative results, we describe qualitative findings. Results are discussed and generalized to propose future requirements for broadening the scope of advanced e-assessment systems. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
