Abstract

A comparative analysis of two cylindrical perfectly matched layers (PML) absorbing boudary condition (ABC) for bi-dimensional (2-D) finite-volume (FV) simulations in the frequency domain is presented. We study the impact of PML parameters on the condition number of the FV system matrix by comparing the performance of two PML loss profiles, viz., polynomial and geometric grading. The discretization error due to FV approximation is also examined. FV results are validated against analytical solution. Results show that the polynomial profile has outperformed the geometric in terms of wave absorption and condition number of the system matrix. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
