Abstract

This paper introduces an infusion monitoring system, aiming to reduce potential safety hazard of manually-controlled infusion. Dripping speed and height of the liquid level serving as monitoring signal, all data is collected by infrared as well as laser sensors. Information will then be sent to terminal monitoring interface via wireless transmission module. When the drop appears too fast or height of the liquid level gets lower than usual, the interface will give out an alert, controlling dripping speed by Step Motor automatically. The system allows a paramedic to manage the infusion process instantaneously, simply by a computer in the nurse station; it can even work automatically without a worker. To conclude, the system will economize on manpower and material resources, improving both efficiency and security. As infusion nowadays still requires much manual work, the project has a broad market prospect. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
