Abstract

Summary form only given. Simulation results are presented. The rotating magnetic field (RMF) was found to have a useful application to driving the poloidal current in Rotamak, RFP, and FRC. Using a multilayer model of an infinite cylindrical plasma, the penetration of RMF into plasmas was simulated. An attempt was made to (1) establish a simulation method using a multilayer model, (2) investigate the penetration time for applying current drive to a newly designed RFP device, (3) investigate the relation between the amount of driven current and the ratio of magnitude of RMF to electron collision frequency, (4) investigate the current drive efficiency of the RMF method, and (5) investigate the change of axial magnetic field distribution during the RMF current drive [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
