Abstract
- The article presents a summary of the issues and challenges faced by the logging component of the U.S. wood fiber supply chain as of March 2013. It stresses that the logger has been impacted the most in the supply chain due to the recession. It explains that logging capacity is at an all-time low, down an average of 25% across the U.S., while the pressure of operating a logging business is at an all-time high. Challenges cited include inadequate pay, labor scarcity, and equipment financing.
