The article focuses on the process of inventory at the library of S. Bento de Avis convent in Avis, Portugal, which suffered from the process of the shutting down of religious and monastic orders due to the civil war of 1832-1834. It highlights the relevance of materials as it provides knowledge of the most read works of the time particularly on the language used and its chronological distribution.
