Abstract

Glycine max cv Dongnong 50 was transformed with a stress-tolerance gene TaDREB3. Three transgenic lines with stable heredity were obtained and the seeds of the T4 generation were sown in field. The contents of protein, oil, fatty acid and isoflavone in seeds of the three transgenic lines and the non-transgenic control lines were determined and compared. The object was to study whether the introduction of foreign gene TaDREB3 had changed the quality traits of soybean. Results showed that there were no significant differences in protein contents, oil contents,as well as fatty acid contents in soybean seeds between three transgenic lines and the control plants. Between the transgenic line 1 and the control, daidzein contents showed significant difference, but isoflavone contents showed no significant difference. It was suggested that introduction of TaDREB3 into soybean did not cause much change in quality traits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
