Abstract

The article offers the author's insights on how to manage livestock operation in the winter considering the high feed costs. The author recommends the use of shelter such as woodlot and adjusted feeding programs to reduce cold stress on cows. He says that cows that have calved and are milking need enough clean water. He adds that homemade mineral or vitamin mixes are more effective than commercial products.
