Abstract

This article discusses a study which investigated the practice of rectal douching and the acceptability of a hypothetical rectal microbicide formulated as a rectal douche among Peruvian men who have sex with men (MSM). Study data was collected from a sample of 824 MSM reporting receptive anal intercourse from three Peruvian cities participating in the 2008 HIV Sentinel Surveillance. Researchers learned that the Peruvian MSM accept the practice of rectal douching.
