- Discusses the role of the group 'for' plus (pro)noun plus to-infinitive in various syntactical contexts. Use of 'it' as a preparatory subject in modern English; Notion that the whole for-group is always to be understood as the subject of the sentence; Implications of a possibility of a syntactical shift or metanalysis.
