Abstract

The article discusses the implications to U.S. farmers of the nine-month extension to the 2008 farm bill. Based on the agreement between the full Senate and the House Agriculture Committee, direct payment subsidies for commodity production will be eliminated permanently. Soybean, corn and wheat growers are said to be the ones who will benefit the most from the extension of the farm bill.
