Egyptian H5N1 Influenza Viruses--Cause for Concern?

The authors explore the threat posed by Egyptian H5N1 influenza viruses. They discuss the findings of a study by S. Herfst and colleagues, published in "Science." The study investigated the airborne transmission of influenza A/H5N1 virus between ferrets. They authors also examine the transmissibility of the virus in humans, as well as mutation of the virus.
