Abstract
- The article discusses drawings, prints, and paintings from the German war art program called the Staffel der Bildenden Künstler (SBK), housed at the Canadian War Museum (CWM) in Ottawa, Ontario that depict the Dieppe Raid, an Allied World War II operation in Dieppe, France which took place on August 19, 1942. It examines depictions of Canadian casualties and prisoners of war, commenting on works including "Casualty on the Beach at Dieppe," by Alfred Hierl and "Destroyed Tanks Being Salvaged," by Wilhelm Strauss.
