PROJECT ORIENTED DIGITAL ENGINEERING COURSE FOR ACTIVATING STUDENTS.

In this paper the course digital engineering is described which is held in the second and third semester of our bachelor program Electrical Engineering. In the second semester a theoretical lecture gives an introduction to digital logic and circuits. In the third semester the students have to carry out a project over the whole semester within a project group. They develop a digital description of a FPGA in VHDL and are responsible for the success of their project. This course leads the students to their performance limit due the complex project but the feedback is very positive [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
