Abstract

The article presents a study on the determination of people's needs in order to provide them satisfaction in media sources in the Netherlands and the U.S. It mentions that the study focuses on three basic audience orientations to determine the specific needs of American and Dutch people such as cognitive, diversion and personal identity. It states that telephone survey is the method used in the study consisting of 786 respondents from Indianapolis, Indiana and 413 from the Netherlands. The study found that the outstanding needs to be satisfied among the respondents are the need to keep tabs on things and to relax.
