Abstract
- The authors discuss the relationship of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) with metabolic syndrome (MetS) in association with increased risk of cardiovascular (CV) events. They highlight similar components between the two, including hypertension, insulin resistance, and low high-density lipoprotein cholestrerol (HDL-C), together with high levels of triglycerides (TG). They conclude that since they share common predisposing factors, both are associated with increased CV risk.
