Abstract
- The author discusses possible copying errors on manuscripts of the play "A Yorkshire Tragedy" by Thomas Middleton. The author describes emendations based on the misreading of the ascenders of handwritten letters, and cites editors John Jowett and Stanley Wells' interpretation of the play. The debated scene is between a husband and an adulterous wife, and handwriting samples from Middleton's play "A Game of Chess" are described. Paper from the Jacobean era and the depictions of time and the murder of children in the play are also discussed.
