Abstract
- The article reports on the impact on the tourism industry of the Hurricane Sandy that hit the U.S. in October 2012. According to the risk consulting firm Eqecat, the storm caused an estimated 50 billion U.S. dollars in damage and economic losses. Airlines such as American, United, Delta, JetBlue and US Airways reported losses of an estimated 400 million U.S. dollars in revenue due to the hurricane. Also noted was the storm's impact on the New York lodging industry.
