Abstract: The article presents a study on the sensitivity of the surface mass balance (SMB) of the Greenland Ice Sheet. The Greenland Ice Sheet was modeled using a regional atmospheric climate model and to various parameter settings in the albedo scheme. The results showed that enhanced meltwater retention and refreezing decrease the albedo due to an increase in snow grain size.
