Abstract

The article features the dishes inspired by the food prepared by early settlers in the state of Virginia. The dishes are prepared by a family based in Westerhouse Creek, not far from Chesapeake Bay, as part of their Thanksgiving Day tradition. Most of the dishes use ingredients found within the area. This includes oysters and other seafood, corn, sweet potatoes, and figs. Being Thanksgiving, the family's table is said to be not complete without a turkey.
