Abstract

The article discusses the trend in engineering disciplines of becoming very narrowly focused since being an expert in every aspect of a field has become something impossible to accomplish. It notes that most engineers do not know what they do not know about the requirements of their jobs after they graduate. It offers suggestion on how engineers can find out that they need to know such keeping their eyes and ears open and asking if they hear something they do not know about.
