Abstract

The article discusses K-pop, or South Korean popular music, and explores its popularity in Asian markets as well as the U.S. The article details how Korean music agencies such as S.M. Entertainment, J.Y.P. Entertainment, and Y.G. Entertainment recruit and train idols, or singers, in various aspects including media relations, choreography, and foreign languages. Particular focus is given to the K-pop groups Girls' Generation, Super Junior, and SHINee.
