Abstract

The article investigates the effect of plant spacing on populations of cabbage aphid Brevicoryne brassicae and mustard aphid Lipaphis erysimi, yield components and soil contents of late sown canola, Brassica napus, in Pakistan. The aphid densities were recorded every week from the top 10 cm of the inflorescence by gently beating it six times on a white plastic sheet from beginning of aphid appearance until the time of harvest. Results reveal that populations of both aphid species were not significantly different on plants in all three spacings of B. napus. Plant height, yield, oil contents, number of racemes, numbers of pods per plant and pod length were likewise not significantly different among all the treatments.
